FAQ Richmond House Cleaning Questions, Answered Plainly.
Good questions deserve short answers. Here is what Richmond-area homeowners ask us most, from how the free estimate works to what happens on cleaning day.
Estimates & Booking
How do I get a house cleaning estimate?
Send the free estimate form with the service you are considering, bedrooms, bathrooms, approximate size, and any special requests. We review the details and reply with an estimate. There is no instant online price, because every home is different.
Which areas around Richmond, VA do you serve?
We clean homes across RVA and the Greater Richmond area: the City of Richmond, Henrico, Chesterfield, Hanover, Goochland, Powhatan, New Kent, and more, including Glen Allen, Short Pump, Midlothian, Mechanicsville, and Chester. Not sure about your address? Mention your neighborhood in the estimate form and we will confirm.
What days and hours do you clean?
Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, for both the office and cleaning appointments. Weekend appointments may be available upon request, so ask if a Saturday or Sunday suits you better.
Should I choose Regular, Deep, or Move-In / Move-Out Cleaning?
Choose Regular Cleaning for routine maintenance, Deep Cleaning for detailed attention to buildup and overlooked areas, and Move-In / Move-Out Cleaning, which includes our Deep Cleaning, to prepare a property for its next resident. Still unsure? Pick "Not Sure" in the estimate form and we will recommend one.
How often can I schedule Regular Cleaning?
Weekly, every two weeks, or monthly are the typical rhythms for Regular Cleaning. Tell us a little about your household in the estimate form and we will help you choose.
Can the price change on cleaning day?
Only after we talk with you. If the condition, size, or scope of the home is significantly different from what was described, we discuss it with you before changing the service or the price. You are never charged for additional work without your knowledge and approval.
Do you offer any discounts on house cleaning?
Yes. Through our Community Appreciation program, military service members, veterans, and seniors (60+) receive 5% off. Mention it when you request your free estimate and we will include it in the estimate we send you.
What makes WellMaid different?
A few everyday practices. We clean from a room-by-room checklist, so each visit is consistent. We bring our own tools and clean only with green, eco-friendly products, with priority given to certified ones. We send a clear estimate first, and you are never charged for additional work without your knowledge and approval.
Your Appointment
Do I have to be home while you clean?
No. You can give us a door code, a key, lockbox access, or another approved method of entry. Access information is treated as private and used only for authorized service purposes.
What time will the cleaning team arrive?
At the scheduled time for the first appointment of the day. Later appointments may have a one hour arrival window to allow for traffic, parking, and the length of earlier visits. If we expect a significant delay, we will keep you informed.
Do you bring your own cleaning supplies?
Yes. We bring professional tools and green, eco-friendly cleaning products: vacuums, mops, microfiber cloths, and cleaning solutions. If you prefer a specific product, such as a scent-free option, tell us before your appointment.
Do you use eco-friendly cleaning products?
Yes, and only those. Every WellMaid cleaning uses green, eco-friendly products, and we give priority to certified ones. If you would like a scent-free option, or a product you already trust, tell us before your appointment.
Can you use scent-free products or products I provide?
Yes. Ask for a scent-free option or share the product you prefer, and tell us before your appointment. For safety and quality reasons, our team may decline a product that does not suit the surface. Client-provided products may affect the results, depending on the product and the surface.
How do I prepare my home for a cleaning?
A little pickup goes a long way. Store personal items and valuables, clear countertops when possible, secure delicate or sentimental items, pick up clothing and toys from the floors, and keep children and pets away from the areas being cleaned. The more accessible the surfaces are, the more thoroughly we can clean them.
Do you clean homes with pets?
Yes, pets are welcome. Tell us if yours is anxious or uncomfortable around strangers, secure pets in a safe area if needed, and share any special care instructions. Our team treats your pets and your home with care.
Do you wash dishes or change bed sheets?
In part. We load dishes into an empty dishwasher, and we do not wash them by hand. We make the beds, and changing the sheets is our Bed Making add-on. Mention it when you request your estimate.
What will your team not do, for safety?
Our cleaners do not lift excessively heavy items, move heavy furniture or appliances, climb on countertops or unstable surfaces, handle hazardous materials or biohazard waste, clean active mold, or work in unsafe conditions. If something cannot be cleaned safely, we will tell you.
Where should the cleaning team park?
Near the property, please. Make sure appropriate parking is available, and share any specific parking instructions before the appointment. If parking requires payment, the parking fees may be added to the final invoice.
Payment & Policies
How do I pay for my cleaning?
After your service you may receive an invoice or a secure payment link by text or email. Accepted methods may include credit and debit cards, ACH transfers, and other approved electronic payments. Payment is due according to the terms provided at booking.
What is your cancellation policy?
We ask for at least 24 hours notice to cancel or reschedule. With less notice, or if our team cannot access the property, a cancellation fee may apply. Emergencies happen, and we handle them with understanding and flexibility whenever possible.
What happens if a spot was missed?
Tell us promptly after the service. Describe the area or concern and include photos when helpful. When appropriate, we arrange a follow-up cleaning of that specific area at no additional charge.
Will you take photos inside my home?
Occasionally, for quality control or documentation. We avoid capturing personal or sensitive information, and photos are never used publicly for marketing without the appropriate permission.
