The last days of a move are busy enough. A move-out cleaning takes one big job off your list, and a little planning makes sure it gets done thoroughly and on time.

Book it for after the movers

The best time for a move-out cleaning is once the home is empty. Furniture hides floors and baseboards, and boxes block cabinets, closets, and corners. Plan the cleaning for after the truck leaves and before you hand over the keys.

Book early if you can. Cleaning appointments run Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, and weekend appointments may be available on request, so the sooner your date is set, the easier it is to fit the timing to your move.

Empty the space as much as possible

The more accessible the surfaces, the more thoroughly they can be cleaned. Before the cleaning:

  • Take out everything you are keeping, including items in closets, cabinets, and the garage
  • Arrange for donations, leftover furniture, and bags of trash to be gone
  • Empty the refrigerator and freezer
  • Clear out bathroom cabinets and the shower

If anything will stay in the home, such as appliances that convey with the sale, mention it when you request your estimate.

Decide on the extras

A WellMaid Move-In / Move-Out Cleaning includes our Deep Cleaning, with extra focus on buildup removal. Carpet shampooing is available as an optional upgrade with a custom quote. If you would like the inside of the oven, refrigerator, or cabinets cleaned, ask about it when you request your estimate.

Keep the utilities on

Water and electricity should stay on until the cleaning is finished. Lights make detail work possible, and water is needed for nearly everything else.

Sort out access and parking

You do not need to be there. A door code, key, lockbox, or another approved way in all work, as long as the team can get in safely at the scheduled time. Access information is kept private and used only for the service.

Please double-check it before the day. If the team cannot get into the property when they arrive, the appointment may be subject to a cancellation fee of 50% of the service amount.

If parking near the property is limited or paid, share instructions ahead of time. Parking fees the team incurs may be added to the final invoice.

Leave a few notes

Tell us about anything specific: a stain you already know about, a room that needs extra attention, or where the breaker box is. Special requests are easiest to plan for when they come before the appointment.

After the cleaning

Walk through the home when you can. If something was missed, contact us promptly, describe the area, and include a photo if it helps. When appropriate, we arrange a follow-up cleaning of that specific area at no additional charge.
